Four areas of expertise work together here:
- Physics and simulation: building simulation for Dutch homes, with Dutch materials and Dutch weather data. Calculated dynamically across 8,760 hours a year, so heat behaves in the model the way it does in practice.
- Behavior and validation: when people shower, how they heat their homes, which appliances they use: that determines a large part of actual consumption. So we test our calculations against theory and against real behavior.
- Economics and forecasting: what a kWh costs today, what it cost five years ago and where it is heading. That turns a saving in kWh into an amount per year, and into a soundly based financing arrangement.
- Software and methodology: domain knowledge and engineering sit in one team here. That makes the knowledge reachable through whichever way of working suits your organization, whether that is an assistant or a link to your own systems.
